PSI’s Darien facility contributed to a local area charity during the holidays.

In addition to planning fun holiday activities for employees in December, PSI’s Darien facility reached out to support the community. The facility teamed with Twin Oaks, an organization that provides 12 residences where homeless households can stay up to 60 days.

The shelter – which relies almost exclusively on private donations – provides a professional case manage who works with residents to find stable housing. Twin Oaks assisted 185 people, including 81 children, in 2018.

The Darien facility hung 28 paper Christmas tree ornaments with wish lists from Twin Oaks families on its tree in the breakroom. Nearly all of the ornaments were plucked from the tree the first day they were placed by employees, who purchased the items – many of which were basic needs – on each list.

As employees gathered the gifts in preparation for delivery to Twin Oaks, they reflected on the season and i’s true meaning. To know in some small way we have made the lives of others just a little brighter this season fills our hearts and demonstrates the real meaning of “It is better to give than to receive.”
