PSI staff were present July 25 at the Port Newark Container Terminal in New Jersey when Tucker Perkins, president and CEO of the Propane Education and Research Council (PERC), presented the port with its Energy for Everyone Hero Award. The award recognizes the port’s adoption of terminal tractors manufactured by MAFI Transport-Systeme GmbH and powered by PSI’s 8.8-liter propane engine. MAFI terminal tractors support of the port’s rail operation.

Certified by both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for use in mobile, off-road applications, PSI’s 8.8-liter engine is one of the cleanest propane engines available on the market and delivers 245.4 hp and 515.5 lb-ft of torque.

The event highlighted the collaborative efforts of the port, MAFI and PSI to promote the safe, efficient use of propane gas through education and technological advancements. MAFI specializes in the development and production of heavy-duty vehicles for transporting containers, semi-trailers, cargo/roll trailers and special container chassis in ports and industry.
